Mary Smith lives in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with her husband, four children and three dogs.  All of them have been lovingly depicted in some of her paintings at one point or another, willing and devoted victims of her brush strokes.  Children and dogs are a fascination for her in their every day quirks, mishaps and yes, even naughtiness, and she loves to depict all of these on her canvas.

She is an entirely self-taught artist who started painting with acrylics only as a hobby when her fourth child started school.   To her delight, she found  that people enjoyed them so much she decided to show them publicly.  She found several galleries eager to sell her paintings and has since branched out into limited edition prints, poster prints, and cards, all of which can be found throughout Canada and the U.S.  Her originals, however, are now sold exclusively through Westmount Gallery in Toronto.  Both oils and acrylics have become her medium of choice and her near future holds the possibility of venturing into collector plates and figurines.
